]]>When John wants to learn a new style, he won’t take a quick course. John will travel to the country where this style was born, and he will search for a master to teach him. When John wanted to learn graffiti, of course he went to the heart of all graffiti: New York City. When John wanted to learn calligraphy, he went to China.
Can you remember the ultimate seduction in the history of faith? Ofcourse, this is Adam and Eve in Paradise. John really excelled on this one. Here you find some pictures of the opening. Excuse us for the poor quality.
We also received a silkscreen of a dollar (a thing that makes seductions possible), hand signed by John. Soon more on this artwork, when it’s framed.
The silkscreen. Awesome.
Ofcourse, sushi at Little Buddha with the cocktail ‘Ultimate Seduction’ (champagne, strawberries, white chocolat and ice). Little Buddha: always poor service, but great sushi.
Last Saturday, December 11th, the new Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was introduced at Hessing (Netherlands). With 1200 BHP and a 0 to 200 km/u (120 mph) in 6,7 seconds, this new Bugatti will crush any other car. There’re only 15 made. With an option of € 220.000 ex VAT for a carbon fibre body work, this car has a price tag of € 2.730.000. Astonishing.

Last thursday, December 9th, Louis Vuitton Amsterdam threw a little party to show their latest winter collection to their guests. Brutblog was there. Apart from lots of Moët and nice people, this was the first time ever that the new Louis Vuitton Tambour Spin Time was in this boutique. Spin Time is an innovate new collection from Louis Vuitton featuring watches with no hour hands. Instead, each of the 12 hour positions is occupied by a rotating cube.
The hours are marked by 12 rotating cubes. Anytime you drop a glance at the face of the new Louis Vuitton watch, eleven of the cubes have a blank face with a subtle letter “V”, while the current hour is numerically shown by the 12th cube found in the current hour position. A great advantage of this innovative hour display is that the cubes feature numerals on two sides, so they display a.m. or p.m time. As for the minutes, they are traditionally shown by a minute hand. Price: € 34.000. It was a great way to start the evening.
Six galleries in Miami are showing the work of this NYC artist. It’s George Condo everywhere. Partly thanks to Kanye West, for using his artwork on his latest album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Supreme, who collaborated with George on their last collection, this artists star is rising faster than the sales of a new Apple product. Website.
Kehinde Wiley traditionally paints African American subjects. Showing at the booth of Chicago gallerist Rhona Hoffman are three paintings from Wiley’s latest series, “The World Stage: India-Sri Lanka”. The works are a refreshing step forward from his traditional African American subjects. Website.
This L.A. based artist references a lot to graffiti. Retna displays a style of calligraphy on all surfaces, leaving only the ceiling untouched. Because of this, people compare him to Keith Haring. Website.
Barry McGee is called “the king of cluster groupings”. With a background in graffiti, the legendary San Francisco artist has been an influence on countless artists and art handlers. Working in total mixed media, McGee’s fine-tooth, ballpoint-pen drawings juxtapose seamlessly in the radical and eye-catching multi-element installs that consist of many pieces to make just one. Showing at both Ratio 3 and Roberts & Tilton, Barry McGee’s work will easily stand the test of time.
Painting in oil like a true master, Tony Curanaj makes works that feel so real that, from a glance, you might second-guess yourself. Yes, that is all paint. Working with contemporary subject matter, the New York-based painter has been steadily gaining momentum — most recently he was commissioned by George Lucas to paint a portrait of a Tusken Raider for his book, Star Wars Art: Visions. Never one to take the easy way out, Curanaj paints strictly from life, and individual works can take months to create. On view at Joshua Liner Gallery’s booth at Scope are five of his recent works.
