You realize the beauty of being healthy only when you are sick. Health is wealth. Some diseases are very dangerous and people affected by them are unaware of it until diagnosed. Even now some people are left facing some deadliest diseases and it takes a lot of measures to eradicate them from this planet. 

Most of the diseases are caused by wrong habits and stressful working conditions. These diseases may have presented their symptoms earlier but as people ignore them they tend to suffer later. Stressful thirties, over working and ignoring health may lead to some severe diseases at fifties and it might take a huge toll on people’s lives. So awareness should be spread and measures need to be taken so that individuals enjoy disease free lives.

It is also known as coronary artery disease and this occurs when the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart becomes narrow. It leads to chest pain and heart failure. With proper awareness measures this disease could be controlled. 

Preventive Measures

  • Exercise regularly.
  • Quit smoking and drinking or drink only in moderation. 
  • Eat food low in sodium and increase the intake of fruits and vegetables. 
  • Maintain a healthy weight. 

People who have sugar and high blood pressure are prone to this disease. Genetics and lifestyle also play a vital role. High cholesterol level is also a cause for this disease. The other risk factors are obesity and family history. 

Lower Respiratory Infections

Pneumonia, tuberculosis and influenza come under this category. If a person gets cold frequently or if he or she gets flu regularly then, there is cause for concern. If left undetected the disease develops and cure becomes difficult. If diagnosed early cure becomes easy. It is usually caused by viruses and sometimes bacteria also is responsible. 

Coughing is the main symptom of lower respiratory infection and a patient might die due to lack of breath. 

Preventive Measures

  • Washing hands before eating food helps. 
  • Getting flu shots early is recommended. 
  • High risk pneumonia patients need to be vaccinated. 

Poor air quality, weak immune system, asthma and smoking are the risk factors which contribute to this disease. 

Pulmonary Disease

This is a disease which progresses in the long term and the patient suffers very severe breathing difficulty. 

Preventive Measures

  • The disease has no cure but could be controlled. 
  • Quit smoking and avoid second hand smoking. 
  • If treated earlier the patient can enjoy less painful life. 

Family history, respiratory infections as a child and smoking are the main culprits for this disease. If a person is allergic to certain fumes then, please avoid it in future. Lung irritants need to be taken care of. 

Stroke

The condition occurs when the artery in the brain is blocked or it starts leaking. When cells do not get oxygen they start dying within minutes. A person feels sudden numbness, difficulty in talking and walking and all these occur quite fast. If not treated immediately a patient develops long term disability. 

Preventive Measures 

  • Quit smoking.
  • Keep blood pressure under control. 
  • Drink in Moderation.
  • Lead a healthy life with lot of physical activity. 
  • A diet low in sodium is advised. 

Hereditary factors and people with high blood pressure are prone to stroke. Some ethnic communities are seen to be affected largely. Stress is the main risk factor. 

Diabetes

In type 1 diabetes the pancreas cannot produce insulin while in type 2 diabetes pancreas does not produce enough insulin. 

Preventive Measures

  • Maintain healthy weight. 
  • Cut down on sugary treats often. 
  • Exercise regularly. 
  • Eat healthy with lot of fibre. 

People who eat unhealthy diet and who are not exercising regularly are prone to diabetes. Overweight people and people with high blood pressure are prone to diabetes. 

Alzheimer’s Disease

The disease is caused by death of brain cells and those who lead stressful lives in their thirties and forties suffer from this diseases in their old age. It is a progressive disease and it destroys memory and arrests some mental function. 

Preventive Measures

  • Eat heart healthy diet. 
  • Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables.

This cannot be prevented. Hereditary, Down syndrome, unhealthy lifestyle and poor social life are leading causes of this disease.
